Second Expert Workshop in Hungary
Digital transformation – we help you get started!
In recent years, the hype around digitalisation and Industry 4.0 has made many small and medium-sized enterprises feel insecure: Do I now need to fully digitise my business? How do I start? What are the right technologies for me? Do I even have the necessary prerequisites and resources?
These are questions that the Digital Coach project, which is coming to an end, and the ADAPTION survey and related consultancy services that it provides, can answer.
Under the project, 6 companies decided to listen to our suggestions. The range of activities is very broad, including office equipment, agro-industry, metalworking and food processing. The motives and motivations are different, yet the same. All companies have recognized that digitalisation is no longer a gentleman’s trick, no longer a competitive advantage. But the lack of digitalisation is now a serious competitive disadvantage.
In April, the final national workshop took place and in June the final international conference in Bochum.
At the event in Hungary, on the 24th and 25th of April 2023. we had presentations from process optimization experts, inspiring workshops on the empowerment of employees in the digital transformation process, and the participants were able to learn about the activities of Hungarian EDIHs, with which the Chamber plans to cooperate more closely in the future, in several areas.
At the conference in Bochum, in addition to international experiences, further opportunities were discussed.
Our Chamber is committed to supporting and developing businesses, and we will continue to provide free assessment and advice after the official closure of the project. Free of charge, but not free of charge, as time is needed.
How do you imagine such a survey?
It starts with learning about the ADAPTATION criteria. The company selects the 5 to 10 criteria from the 47 criteria that are of most interest to them, and the survey and interviews are conducted along these criteria. Based on the selected criteria, a questionnaire is prepared and can be filled in in advance by the company’s staff. The more the better. And we have already arrived at the first face-to-face meeting, when the participants (business representatives, chamber staff, invited experts) sit down for a chat. During the discussion, we try to get to know the motivations in more depth, to outline the processes, tasks and roles in the business. The aim is to gather as much information as possible (which is of course kept confidential) to formulate proposals. In the course of the discussions, the representatives of the participating companies usually also begin to see the situation and the context more clearly.

Final workshop on the Digital Coach project
In April, the Gabrovo Chamber of Commerce and Industry held a two-day final seminar on the “Digital coach” project, in which the Chamber is a partner for Bulgaria.
The main goal of “Digital coach” is to present a system for evaluating digitization and digitization processes in small and medium-sized enterprises and to support the modernization of businesses with the help of the so-called digital coaches and “learning factories”. Within the project, 10 modules were created for self-training of digital coaches. They can be external experts or internal – part of the team of the respective company that wants to transform its work processes. In Bulgaria, 18 digital trainers have been trained so far from the two target groups – representatives of companies where the pilot implementations are taking place, and of the Technical University in Gabrovo.
The first stage of the digital transformation is related to the assessment of the degree of digitization and digitization of processes in the enterprise. It is performed using the “Adaption” maturity model, in which processes are evaluated on 48 indicators with up to eight different values. Then the degree to which the business wants to reach is noted. Next comes the stage of identifying specific measures and actions.

2nd workshop in Greece
Technical Institute of Heraklion Chamber
23/05/23 – 24/05/23
In recent times, the buzz surrounding digitalization and Industry 4.0 has left many small and medium-sized enterprises feeling uncertain: Should I embark on a full digital transformation for my business? How do I initiate the process? Which technologies are most suitable for my needs? Do I possess the necessary prerequisites and resources?
These are the queries that the concluding Digital Coach project, along with its associated ADAPTION survey and consultancy services, is equipped to address, and that were addressed in the 2nd workshop in Greece.
During the project, companies chose to heed our recommendations. The scope of activities is extensive, spanning office equipment, agro-industry, metalworking, and food processing. The motives and incentives may vary, but a common thread unites them. All these companies have acknowledged that digitalization is no longer a mere novelty or a competitive edge. Instead, the absence of digitalization has evolved into a significant competitive disadvantage.
